STAINS OF OILY FOODSTUFFS
For stains caused by coffee, mustard, tea, soft drinks, beer, wine, vomit, urine, excrement:
- MIX 1 tablespoon mild carpet detergent, 1/3 cup white vinegar; 2/3 cup water
- Remove excess material, absorbing liquids and scraping semisolids
- Apply the solution described above
- Blot the carpet and gently brush the pile
- Apply many layers of toweling over the affected area; weight down
- Leave until the area is dry
STAINS OF STARCHES, SUGARS AND FOODSTUFFS
For stains caused by egg, milk, blood, candy, ice cream, chocolate, sugar, salad dressing:
- MIX 1 cup water; 2 tablespoons ammonia; 1 tablespoon mild carpet detergent.
- Remove excess material, absorbing liquids and scraping semisolids
- Apply the solution described above
- Blot the carpet and gently brush the pile
- Apply many layers of toweling over the affected area; weight down
- Leave until the area is dry
- When dry, apply non-flammable dry cleaning solvent
- Dry the carpet and brush the pile gently
STAINS OF HEAVY GREASE AND OIL
For stains caused by gum, oil, tar, inks, wax, butter, grease, household cement:
- Remove excess material
- Apply a dry, non-flammable cleaning solvent
- Blot dry
- Brush pile gently
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE STAINS CAUSED BY:
Lipstick, rouge, nail polish, rust, dried mustard, furniture stains, or candle wax. These stains require special reagents or techniques to be used by
